Summary
This summary is for convenience. The full policy below is what applies.
- We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising, and cookies are not used for that.
- You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may stop sign-in, your cart and checkout from working.
- If we ever add optional cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
1. About this policy
1.1 Who we are and what this covers. This Cookie Policy explains how Minty Care Connections LLC (“Minty,” “we,” “us” or “our”), a New York limited liability company, uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit www.mintycareconnections.com or use its sign-up, booking and account features (the “Platform”). It also explains the distinction between website cookies and the email-open and link-click tracking used in Minty’s Brevo communications.
1.2 How it fits with our other policies. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, which explain how we handle your personal information more generally. Words such as “Household,” “Professional” and “Member” have the meanings given in the Terms of Use.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
2.1 Cookies. A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your browser or device when you visit it. Cookies let a website recognize your browser, remember information between page loads, and perform functions such as keeping you signed in.
2.2 Types of cookies. Cookies can be described in several ways:
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.
- First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by another organization whose service the website uses.
- Essential cookies are needed for a site to work. Non-essential cookies, such as analytics or advertising cookies, are optional.
2.3 Similar technologies. “Similar technologies” are other tools that store or read information on your browser or device. In this policy we use the term “cookies” to include them. They include:
- Local storage and session storage. Browser features that let a website keep small amounts of data on your device. Local storage stays until it is cleared; session storage ends when the tab closes.
- IndexedDB and caches. Browser databases and caches that a website can use to hold data temporarily, for example to load pages faster.
- Tokens and identifiers. Small pieces of data, such as a sign-in token, that identify your session or device to our servers.
- Pixels, tags and software development kits (SDKs). Code in a website that reports information to its provider or a third party. We do not use advertising pixels or advertising SDKs.
- Device and advertising identifiers. Identifiers created by your device or operating system. We do not use advertising identifiers.
2.4 Why the law covers them. Cookies are not programs and cannot run code or carry viruses. They do, however, store information that can relate to you or your device. That is why privacy laws, including US state privacy laws and, for visitors in Europe and the United Kingdom, the EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the GDPR and the UK GDPR, regulate them.
3. How we use cookies
3.1 What we use them for. Minty is an online platform that connects Households with independent Professionals for non-medical household services in the Rochester, New York area. On the website, we use cookies and similar technologies only for what is needed to provide that service when you ask for it. In particular, we use them to:
- recognize you after you sign in, so you do not have to sign in again on every page;
- keep your session secure, protect your account against unauthorized access, and help prevent fraud, abuse and automated attacks;
- make sure requests to our servers come from you and not from a malicious site (security tokens);
- remember display settings you chose for your account area;
- help Stripe, our payment provider, recognize your browser and detect fraud when you pay; and
- keep the Platform available and working properly.
3.2 What we do not use them for. We do not use cookies to build a profile of you for advertising, to follow you across other websites, to sell or share your personal information, to read your messages, or to train artificial-intelligence models. We do not allow third parties to place advertising cookies on our Platform.
4. The categories of cookies
Cookies are commonly grouped into four categories. The table below shows each category and what it does.
| Category | What it does |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Needed to provide the service you ask for and to keep it secure. Examples: sign-in session, cart and checkout session, security tokens and payment fraud prevention. These do not require consent under EU and UK law because they are essential. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the Platform will stop working. |
| Functional or preference | Remember settings you chose, such as display options for your account area, so you do not have to set them again. We use only those that you request or that are needed for a feature you use. |
| Performance and analytics | Website analytics measure visits and usage; the developer reports none configured on Minty’s website. Separate Brevo email-open and click measurement is enabled as described in Section 5.3 and Privacy Policy Section 9.2. |
| Advertising and tracking | Build profiles of your interests, show targeted advertising, or track you across sites. We do not use these and do not permit them on our Platform. |
5. Cookies and storage we use on our website
5.1 The cookies we use. The table below lists the types of cookies and similar storage our Platform uses.
| Type | Purpose | Provider | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Login session cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*) | Keep you signed in during a visit and identify your authenticated session | Minty (first party), set by WordPress | Session, or up to 14 days if you choose “Remember me” | Strictly necessary |
| Login test cookie (wordpress_test_cookie) | Checks that your browser accepts cookies before you sign in | Minty (first party), set by WordPress | Session | Strictly necessary |
| Payment fraud-prevention cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) | Help Stripe recognize your browser and detect fraud when you pay | Stripe (third party) | 30 minutes to 1 year | Strictly necessary |
| Account display settings (wp-settings-*) | Remember display settings for your account area | Minty (first party), set by WordPress | Up to 1 year | Functional |
| Cart and checkout session cookies (WooCommerce) | Maintain cart contents and checkout/session information | Minty website through WooCommerce | Session or configured expiry; varies by cookie and site settings | Strictly necessary |
5.2 Keeping this list accurate. The exact names, values and durations can change as the Platform is updated, and some are set by the providers that host and protect it. We keep this table current so that it reflects what the Platform actually sets.
5.3 Website analytics and email measurement. Based on the developer’s documented website configuration, Minty does not currently set website analytics, advertising, social-media or profiling cookies. Essential website technologies include WordPress login/session cookies, WooCommerce cart/session cookies and Stripe fraud-prevention cookies. Separately, Minty’s Brevo emails use tracking pixels and individualized links to record opens and clicks linked to recipient contact records. That email measurement does not mean the website uses analytics cookies. We use email engagement to improve relevant communications as described in Section 9.2 of our Privacy Policy. Email privacy features and automated activity can affect the measurements. Linked or embedded provider services may use their own cookies and settings, as described in Sections 6 and 10.
6. Forms, maps and embedded services
6.1 No mobile app. Minty does not currently offer a mobile app. If we launch one, we will update this policy before it starts using any storage or identifiers on your device.
6.2 Services provided by other companies. Some features of the Platform use services provided by other companies, which can use their own cookies or similar technologies in their part of the page:
- Payments. Stripe’s secure checkout fields collect your payment details and may set the cookies listed in Section 5. Card numbers and bank details go directly to Stripe.
- Location search and maps. Mapbox receives the addresses and searches you enter, and your IP address, to provide location search and maps.
- Background screening. Professionals complete background screening in a form provided by Checkr. Sensitive details entered there go directly to Checkr.
- Sign-up, waitlist and scheduling tools. Tools including Google Forms and Calendly collect the details you submit and may use their own cookies or similar technologies on their pages or embedded features. Our developer reports no analytics or advertising trackers configured on Minty’s website; this does not describe every provider-operated page. Relevant records may pass through Zapier or be stored in Google Workspace and Brevo as explained in the Privacy Policy.
6.3 Their policies apply. These providers act under their own privacy policies. Provider names are examples, not an exhaustive list of all supporting systems. Their use remains subject to the purposes, limits and change-notice requirements in our Privacy Policy.
7. Our legal basis for using cookies
7.1 Visitors in the United States. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use cookies for that purpose. Because of that, there is no sale or sharing to opt out of through cookies. If you use a browser or extension that sends an opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), we treat it as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing for your browser, even though we do not currently engage in either. If your state’s law gives you rights regarding cookies or the information they collect, see Section 16 of our Privacy Policy for how to use those rights.
7.2 Visitors outside the United States. Minty is intended for the Rochester, New York area. Where European or UK rules apply, we obtain consent before storing or accessing non-essential information on a device as required by applicable law. The developer reports that Minty’s website currently uses only essential cookies for the requested website functions. Email-open and link-click tracking is a separate use of tracking technology; we provide notice and obtain any consent required for that use. A website’s lack of analytics cookies does not determine the requirements for email tracking.
Where cookies involve personal information, the GDPR and the UK GDPR also apply. For strictly necessary cookies we process the information because it is necessary to provide the service you request and for our legitimate interests in keeping the Platform safe and secure. If we ever rely on consent for optional cookies, consent must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous; it will not be pre-ticked; and you will be able to withdraw it as easily as you gave it.
8. Your choices and how to control cookies
8.1 Cookie settings on our website and email choices. The developer reports that Minty’s website currently uses only essential cookies and has no website cookie-choice tool. If we introduce non-essential website technologies, we will update this policy and provide any consent or preference controls required by law before using them. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link. You may contact support@mintycareconnections.com with questions about email tracking or to exercise applicable privacy rights. Unsubscribing does not stop necessary service messages or erase engagement data already collected. Browser cookie controls do not necessarily prevent email pixels or tracked links from recording activity.
8.2 Browser controls. Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies. You can usually find these options in your browser’s settings under “Privacy,” “Security” or “Cookies.” Your choices include blocking all cookies, blocking third-party cookies only, deleting cookies when you close the browser, and clearing cookies and site data at any time. Instructions are available from the help pages of the major browsers, including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
8.3 What happens if you block cookies. If you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Platform will not work. For example, you may be unable to sign in or stay signed in, and your saved settings may be lost. If you block Stripe’s cookies, you may not be able to pay through the Platform.
8.4 Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There is no agreed standard for responding to it, so our website does not change how it works when it is on. As explained in Section 7.1, we do recognize Global Privacy Control signals as described there.
8.5 Account and device settings. You can sign out to end your session, and you should sign out on shared or public devices. You can close your Minty account or ask us to delete your information as explained in Section 16 of our Privacy Policy. Clearing your browser’s cookies signs you out and empties your cart, but it does not delete your account.
9. How long cookies last
9.1 Session and persistent cookies. Session cookies last until you close your browser or sign out. Persistent cookies last for the period shown in the table in Section 5, and we do not set persistent cookies for longer than is needed for their purpose. If we add a consent or preference cookie, we expect to keep it for up to 12 months, after which we may ask you to confirm your choices again.
9.2 If you close your account. If you close your Minty account, we delete or anonymize the information we hold about it as explained in our Privacy Policy.
9.3 Cookies already on your device. Cookies and local storage already on your browser or device remain until they expire or you clear them, so you may want to clear them yourself.
10. Third parties, links and the information they collect
10.1 Our providers. Provider examples include Hostinger for website hosting, Stripe for payments, Checkr for screening, Mapbox for location search, Google Forms for intake, Google Workspace including Gmail for business communications and records, Zapier for workflow automation, Calendly for scheduling and Brevo for email communications and engagement measurement. This is not an exhaustive inventory. Not all of these tools set cookies on Minty’s website, and each receives information relevant to its function. Provider-operated pages may use their own technologies and settings. The Privacy Policy describes categories of providers, relevant information and permitted purposes; using another tool does not authorize unrelated uses of personal information.
10.2 Stripe. When you pay, Stripe handles the payment and may place its own cookies or identifiers on your browser in its checkout. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at https://stripe.com/privacy.
10.3 Links to other sites. When you follow a link from the Platform to another website, including social media such as our Instagram page, or to an independent Professional’s own website, you leave Minty. Those sites may set their own cookies, including for advertising or analytics. We do not control those cookies and they are not covered by this policy. Please read their own cookie and privacy policies.
10.4 Provider-operated services. Third-party services control their own independent cookie and privacy practices. Minty remains responsible for its own configuration and disclosures and for its obligations concerning information processed on its behalf.
11. Changes we plan to make, and when we will ask you
11.1 Before we add optional website cookies. Separately from the Brevo email measurement already described in Section 5.3, if we introduce non-essential website cookies or similar website technologies, we will:
- update this Cookie Policy and the table in Section 5, with a new effective date;
- update our Privacy Policy so that it matches;
- show a notice or banner on the website that lets you accept or reject each non-essential category;
- not set the new cookies until you have agreed, where the law requires consent; and
- give you a way to change your mind at any time.
11.2 How we choose tools. We consider the information needed for a tool’s purpose and available privacy settings. Our use of Brevo email engagement measurement is described in Section 5.3 and the Privacy Policy. If we add website analytics, we will explain its use and provide any choices or consent required by law before it operates.
12. Cookies and your personal information
12.1 Cookie data can be personal information. Some of the information stored in cookies, such as a sign-in token or a device identifier, can be personal information when it is linked to you. We treat it with the same care as the rest of your information. It is covered by the rights described in our Privacy Policy, including the rights to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your information, and any additional rights available under your state’s law. To use those rights, email support@mintycareconnections.com with the subject “Privacy Request.”
12.2 Complaints. If you have a concern we have not resolved, you may contact your state attorney general or the Federal Trade Commission. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
